Decoding The Voynich Manuscript

Decoding The Voynich Manuscript

The Voynich Manuscript has not yet been decoded.

The Voynich Manuscript is a Medieval Codex with unusual drawings, and the meaning of the Voynich Manuscript has remained hidden because it has not been decoded since its discovery in Medieval times as well as in the period following the re-discovery of the Voynich Manuscript by Wilfrid Voynich in 1912.

Decoding The Voynich Manuscript

The Script used in the Voynich Manuscript is written in a language which is undeciphered and so the Voynich Manuscript has not been decoded.

What has also made the Voynich Manuscript diffcult to decode is that its also written from left to right with no clear punctuation.

Even though the Voynich Manuscript Text has not been decoded, the Manuscript Script seems to follow some linguistic rule patterns which are not similar to any known European or English language.

Sections Of The Voynich Manuscript That May Be Decoded

Although the meaning of the Script and Drawings in the Voynich Manuscript have not been decoded, the Voynich Manuscript can be split into six different sections that may help in decoding the Voynich Manuscript.

Herbal

The first section of the Voynich Manuscript that can be decoded deals with Herbs although the illustrations and Script cannot be linked to any known Herbs or specimens.

Biological

Another section of the Voynich Manuscript that can also be decoded contains Script and drawings of small naked women taking baths in pools linked together by a dense network of pipes resembling body organs.

This section is considered Alchemical although the symbols used in the Voynich Manuscript here do not correspond with standard Alchemical symbols making it difficult to decode this section of the Voynich Manuscript.

Cosmological

This undecoded section of the Voynich Manuscript contains a diagram with nine connected islands with castles, as well as what may possibly be a volcano.

Pharmaceutical

In this part of the Voynich Manuscript, we get what seems to be some kind of Encyclopedia of  Medieval Medicine that has also defied being decoded.

There are lots of drawings of plant leaves and roots some of which are highly exaggerated but are difficult to decode.

Astronomical

This section of the Voynich Manuscript consists of circular diagrams with suns, moons, and stars including symbols of the Zodiac which are strange and difficult to understand and decode.

Recipes

Last but not least is the undecoded recipe section of the Voynich Manuscript with lots of short paragraphs marked with a flower or star bullets.

Origin & Authorship Of The Voynich Manuscript

Georg Baresch based in Prague during the 17th Century is the first person recognised as Owner of the Voynich Manuscript.

However, Ownership records of the Voynich Manuscript are scant and intermittent over a period of 200 years until it found its way into the Church Library of Italy’s Collegio Romano.

The Jesuits at the Collegio Romano sold some of their Books in 1912 in order to raise funds. It was from this sale that Wilfrid Voynich acquired the Voynich Manuscript along with 29 others.

Wilfred Voynich was intrigued by the peculiar Manuscript and spent years  searching for experts from various fields to decode the Manuscript while he established its Provenance.

On his death in 1930, the Voynich Manuscript passed onto his Wife until it was eventually donated to Yale University in 1969 by antique book dealer Hans P. Kraus who had purchased it for $14 000.00.

It is not known who wrote the Voynich Manuscript but its most often suggested that it may have been written by notable Alchemist Roger Bacon or Medieval New Age Fraudsters John Dee and Edward Kelley, as well as potentially being fabricated by Voynich himself for profit.

This means it is also possible that the Voynich Manuscript is meaningless and there is really no meaning to decode and extract from the Voynich Manuscript.

Conclusion

In the final analysis, aside from the clear Astrological meaning that can be derived from the Astrological section of the Voynich Manuscript,  the Voynich Manuscript has not been decoded and it remains a mystery which even Artificial Intelligence has failed to decode.

Nevertheless, there is no doubt that efforts to decode the Voynich Manuscript will continue until one day its secrets are decoded.
